Activities of Daily Living

Activities of Daily Living are activities that people do every day without assistance. Generally speaking they involve:

  • Functional Transfers
  • Ambulation
  • Stairclimbing
  • Bathing and Grooming
  • Dressing and Undressing

At Total Health and Rehabilitation, we work towards helping patients achieve their own personal, maximum independence of these tasks. Our interventions, skills and experience help patients not only regain their independence, but help to restore their quality of life. Often interventions include:

  • Weight shifting education to help transfer from a chair
  • Body mechanics for safe transfers from a bed or recliner
  • Gait training for safe ambulation for a variety of environments
  • Skills and techniques to negotiate stairs
  • Proper uses for a variety of assistive devices

If a surgery, an accident, "Father Time" has compromised your ability to perform your Activities of Daily Living, we will help to regain your independence.
